Haringey Shed, the inclusive theatre company for children and young people, is on the move and I would like to ask for your help!
As you will know we have been based at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre for a few years now, but as from 1st February 2011 we are moving to the Irish Centre in Pretoria Road, Tottenham and the Haringey Sixth Form Centre.
This is very exciting for everyone as the Centre will house a larger better equipped office for the staff but more importantly we will have our very own Studio for our music, rehearsals, the band, the choir and many other activities. Our Children’s and Youth Theatre will now take place at the Sixth Form Centre – a lovely modern building which is already used by us during the school holidays. In addition, this move will represent a significant long-term cost saving by a reduction in our rent, and also by having our own studio we are going to be able to generate income by offering external training.
Where we need your help is that the move is going to cost us an additional £10,000 as we have to totally refurbish our rooms to make them accessible, and with decorating, rewiring, carpeting and so on, you will know how quickly these costs build up. So this letter is my personal appeal to everyone to help out in any way they can with donations towards this cost, for however small or large your gift it will be gratefully received.
I know I don’t have to tell you how much I value and support Haringey Shed and its wonderful work with children and I know you do too. So please be as generous as you can - it will mean so much to us all.
Please make your cheques payable to Haringey Shed and send them to Aneita Malcolm, Haringey Shed, Bernie Grant Arts Centre, Tottenham, London N15 4RX or donate online
Many thanks
Sue Johnston OBE
