Here's what our current volunteers had to say about volunteering with Haringey Shed:

“I loved volunteering with Haringey Shed, it was a brilliant opportunity & I learned a lot of new skills. It was fun to take one step from being a member into volunteering. Volunteering has helped me decide my chosen career path.” Alexandra Dowson, 16

"I continue to have a great experience in Haringey Shed. I’ve been able to delve into areas that interest me and I have gathered many skills in the process. “ Monique Todd

“The staff members I have worked with so far have been very warm and helpful. They have made me feel part of the team and the project. The young children and teenagers have been very welcoming and I am amazed at how determined and creative they have been to see the play go forward. The volunteering that I have carried out has been enjoyable and at times I have left with a smile on my face as the atmosphere in the meetings has been very comfortable and cool. I feel that I have become part of the team and can’t wait to see the play in its finished state, I’m sure that the kids will do it more than justice! This type of voluntary work is unique and rare and I feel that a lot of students in my area of study will have not have such a great thing to show on their CV’s. I feel that working on the project so far has allowed me to stretch my people skills to the limit and allowed me to develop and expand areas of my creativity.” Silva Gashi, 21

“I had a wonderful time with Haringey Shed. I met some lovely people and the experience felt very rewarding at the end of each day. I now find it easier to meet and work with new people… and I also feel my creative skills have improved. I would definitely like to work with HS again.” Rachel Califf, 19 “I really enjoyed every moment I spent with Haringey Shed this summer. It was such a pleasure working with such a talented and passionate group of young people and seeing them perform at the end of 2 weeks was very humbling. It has given me confidence in myself to guide and encourage others. It has shown me that from volunteering you can get so many benefits. I feel that when I have done my degree I would like to go into something theatre orientated with young people. Haringey Shed has enabled this. “ Sophie Kislevsky, 19

“I have really really enjoyed volunteering for Haringey Shed. All of the other volunteers and members of staff are welcoming and fun to be around, also the children that attend are always enjoyable to work with. Haringey Shed has made me 100% sure that working with children is something that I definitely want to do in the future. Shed has helped me to gain a stronger self-confidence and increased my self esteem” Anick Charles, 17

“I have benefited in so many ways. Now that I am back at school I can see that my understanding of inclusion is on a different level and I hope that the way I communicate with children with special needs has been greatly improved. I enjoyed the unique atmosphere of HS which is in no small part due to the other people who work for the company and their amazing energy. In terms of personal development I learnt to look on my work always in a positive light and that energy is contagious” Cat Wrobel, 24

“I really enjoyed my time with HS. There was a real family atmosphere and it was so lovely to work in such a close environment. I found a real bond with my partner and really enjoyed the journey we went through. It has given me confidence to work with all kinds of people…It has also made me realise how important companies like this are.” “I love Haringey Shed…It’s something different, new, exciting and is of value to young people but more importantly the community” John McHugh, 25

“I really enjoy volunteering with HS. It has improved my confidence and been really fun. I feel I am doing something worthwhile with my time and it is clear the children and young people love coming here as much as I do. I have learnt more than I ever imagined possible during my time with Haringey Shed.” Alice Seymour, 24

“My experience has been amazing as I done things I didn’t know I could. Working with Sonia was a pleasure, amazing! I also love how HS push you to do things.” Miriam Moore, 16

“I love working with Shed because I love the atmosphere. It’s always fun and bubbly and the children are great. I don’t mind volunteering because it is amazing seeing the children light up when they contribute. They have so much fun and knowing you’re helping to make that happen is great. The staff are great help too. “ Tamzin Murray, 16
