Haringey Shed welcomed a star-studded cast to a fundraising extravaganza on Sunday February 17th at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre in Tottenham. A host of well-known faces, including Maggie Steed, Rudolph Walker, Naomie Harris, David Morrissey, John Sim, Liz Smith, Les Dennis and Alison Steadman performed to a full house in an evening of music, story-telling and poetry, with 120 young performers of Haringey Shed, aged 6 – 16. Children’s and Youth theatre members performed with their usual talent and exuberance, entertaining the audience with their unique brand of song, music and dance!
Director Lynne Hale explained the importance of the fundraising event:
“Even though we have a waiting list to join Haringey Shed with places for children with special needs particularly in demand, we are unable to move forward because we have a funding deficit. Just to maintain the current provision, we need to raise £50k in the coming year. This event enabled us to reach a new audience attracted by the celebrity volunteers and raise awareness of the quality of our work with young people. We need the people of Haringey to see how important Haringey Shed is to many young people and their families in the area.”
