Shed Jam is our annual youth-curated musical revue, which our Youth Forum members produce. They learn how to curate an exciting music and performance programme, gaining skills in programming, marketing, design & décor and event hosting. The programme is usually centred around our very own Music Making groups, who become a live house band for the evening.

Music Making work throughout the term to create a repertoire of original songs and innovative interpretations of more familiar tracks. They also accompany other groups from our weekly sessions, like Shed Moves, who create a special dance piece for the evening, or Writers Room, who might write a piece of spoken word set to live music. The rest of the programme is filled with a variety of music, singing, poetry and comedy performances from our Haringey Shed members and their wider community.

We try to make sure that the event is always hosted off-site, so that the youth team have the experience of planning an event for a different venue and that entails in terms of logistics, accessibility and decorations. Youth Forum members also MC the evening, making sure the entire event from conception to final performance is youth-led. It’s one of the real highlights of the Haringey Shed calendar and often the big first show of our annual seasons.
